Every now and again, Ward and June would sneak off to the local Howard Johnson motel and go to Happy Hour for a quite cocktail and live music...Probably one of the very best of the LPs that organist Earl Grant ever recorded for Decca. Completely instrumental, with tender and romantic renditions of a group of ballads, alternating with an uptempo jazzy touch on the tropical mood tunes. Song Selections: Beyond the Reef, When Sunny Gets Blue, Tender is the Night, The Very Thought of You, Yellow Bird, Angel Eyes, Mood Indigo, The Second Time Around, Make Someone Happy, Swingin' Gently, Londonderry Air, Climb Ev'ry Mountain. Great drum work by the legendary Jack Sperling, with tenor sax, flute, guitar and bass accompaniment--too cool! The LP vinyl is Near MInt, as is the paper insert. The cover has very light ring wear to the back and a slight bottom seam creasing to the paper, making it Very Good++. It is in outstanding shape for a 40 year old LP, looking nearly new.
